ABOUT THIS TOOL +
The SBS Technical Tools and Calculators Directory is a free engineering reference hub published by Specialty Bolt and Screw, Inc. (SBS), a value-added distributor of precision fasteners and industrial hardware. The directory is designed for design engineers, mechanical engineers, quality professionals, and procurement teams who need fast access to fastener calculation tools, specification references, and compliance resources in one place.
The directory is organized into nine category columns: Conversion, Materials and Grades, Finishes and Coatings, Design Guides, Threads and Drives, Quality, Part Standardization, Compliance and Regulatory, and Procurement and Logistics. A live keyword search bar at the top filters all tools in real time across both tool names and descriptions, making it easy to locate a specific calculator such as a torque tension clamp load calculator or a thread engagement calculator without scrolling. Hovering over any tool name opens a tooltip card with a plain-language description and a direct link to open that tool.
Each tool entry displays the tool name, a short description of its function and outputs, and an Open Tool link that launches the full interactive calculator or reference guide. Descriptions cover what inputs the tool accepts, what it calculates or returns, and which engineering standards or specifications it draws from. Tools marked in italics are in development and are listed for reference so users can plan ahead for capabilities that are coming soon.
The directory supports a wide range of real engineering and procurement workflows. During a BOM review, a team can quickly locate the hardness conversion tool or the materials standards conversion tool to confirm grade equivalency. When preparing a print cross-reference or substitution analysis, the Fastener Substitution and Cross Reference Tool and the Part Standardization Template provide structured comparison frameworks. Quality teams use the AQL Sampling Plan Calculator and the Cpk Process Capability Calculator to support incoming inspection planning and supplier communication. Procurement teams rely on the Total Cost of Ownership Estimator, the Lead Time Calculator, and the Freight and Minimum Order Optimizer to build data-driven sourcing decisions.
The tools in this directory reference specifications from leading standards organizations including ASME (B18 fastener dimensions, B94.6 knurling, B1 thread standards), ANSI, ISO (spring standards 10243, 2162, and 26909), DIN (82, 2095-2098), SAE, IFI (524 and 525 locking patch standards), NAS, MS military specifications, MIL-STD-889 (galvanic corrosion), and ANSI/ASQ Z1.4 (sampling). Engineers searching for hex bolt specifications, DIN 933 reference data, ASME B18 fastener guides, thread depth calculators, or industrial hardware catalog resources will find purpose-built tools for each of those needs within this directory.
